“As an artist in residence I like to think of myself as a professional distraction and often approach people by asking, “would you like to make something?” Even if I am turned down, I usually elicit a smile.
Since illness can make us feel out of sync with our surroundings, I try in my photographs to reconnect with the familiar, what is and was home. That is why I photograph my favorite place in New York capturing happy memories from a physical and metaphorical distance and also my current surroundings in rural Ohio.”
